Shy Bladder 'parureses' treatment in Huntingdon
Toilet phobia: fear of peeing in front of others
Shy Bladder or 'Parureses' is the inability to urinate in front of others. As with all other phobias, the severity of the symptoms change from person to person, and will also fluctuate depending on the person's anxiety levels. Huntingdon hypnotherapist Lee Joseph uses analytical therapy
to help overcome your toilet phobia once and for all.Shy bladder causes difficulties as the sufferer will not use the urinals instead they will hang around waiting for a cubical to be free when using public toilets. This in itself creates additional anxiety. Once in a cubical some sufferers will have to wait until everone has left the toilets as they still feel themselves under pressure knowing that people are still in the vacinity. In the severist cases the sufferer can only use the toilet in their own home.
Shy bladder is a Social Anxiety Disorder and is also known by a number of other names including avoidant paruresis, shy bladder syndrome and pee shyness. It is also sometimes grouped along with other conditions under the term toilet phobia. It is important to embrace the fact that this disorder has physical symptoms but they are psychological in origin and out of the control of the conscious mind. Although most sufferers report that they developed the condition in their teenage years, it can strike at any age.
